Services for Juanita Thigpen Anderson Jenkins, age 96 of Scott, will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, October 1, 2011, at the Poplar Springs United Methodist Church, Adrian, GA. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery. Rev. Mark Hardin and Paul Keene will officiate. Mrs. Jenkins was born in Laurens County but lived most of her life in Johnson County. She was the daughter of the late Richard Thigpen and the late Rilla Spell Thigpen. She was a retired Educator after 35 years, 17 years of that she served as Principal of Scott Jr. High School. She retired from Adrian High School. She was a charter member of the Emanuel County Beta Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma. Mrs. Jenkins received her Masters Degree from Georgia Southern University. Mrs. Jenkins was preceded in death by her husbands, Herbert Anderson, and Hugh Jenkins and a son Herbert "Sonny" Anderson, Jr. She died Thursday, September 29, 2011 at Serenity Place. Survivors include her sister, Louise Thigpen Pope of Dexter, niece Danielle Pope Brown (Raymond) of Dexter, great nieces; Ashley B. Wood (Dusty), Rayna B. Dubberly (Travis), great great nieces; Rayley Dubberly, and Zoey Wood all of Dexter, loving caregivers; Linda Wynn and Felicia Soles. Bobby Fountain, Waddell Clements, Don Hightower, Edwin Knight, Lott Foskey, Sam Beall will serve as pallbearers. Her former students will serve as honorary pallbearers.
