Judson Henry
Hamilton, Jr.
Dec 31, 1945 — Jan 24, 2022
Judson Henry Hamilton, Jr., age 76, went to be with his Lord and Savior on January 24th, 2022 at his home, surrounded by his family. Judson, affectionately known as Jud, was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and great-uncle. He was an active member of First Baptist Church of Dublin, GA, and in all aspects of his life, his real passion was sharing his faith in his Lord.
Visitation will be at 10:00 AM on Friday, January 28th, 2022 at First Baptist Church of Dublin with a Memorial Service immediately following at 11:00 AM, also at First Baptist, with Dr. Cliff Morris officiating and Dr. Jack Brown eulogizing. Following the service, lunch will be served for the family in the Fellowship Hall, prepared and presented by the Hands of Ruth class. Everyone is then invited to join the family for a graveside service in Waycross, GA at 3:30 PM at the Oakland Cemetery, Dr. Darrell Paulk officiating. Arrangements have been entrusted to Townsend Brothers Funeral Home and flowers by Classic Florist, both of Dublin, GA.
Jud was born in Augusta, GA on December 31st, 1945. He was adopted by Judson Hamilton, Sr., and Elizabeth Pamplin Hamilton on May 1st, 1947. Jud graduated from Waycross High School in 1964 where he met and married his high school sweetheart, Jane Hamilton (née Thackston). They spent the best years of their life together and, thick or thin, enjoyed 57 years of wonderment and love.
Jud was briefly an ambulance driver, police officer, and construction foreman, working on the first developments on Hilton Head Island. He found his calling in sales, though, and spent 30 years working with Lance, Inc. before finishing his career heading up operations for Neighbors Express/Clark Oil Co. in Dublin, GA.
Jud is survived by his wife Jane Thackston Hamilton; their two sons, Judson Henry Hamilton, III and wife Tina, and Joseph Percy Hamilton and wife Karen; grandchildren Analisse Hamilton, Caleb Hamilton, Ashley Hamilton, and Emma Hamilton; fur-daughter Bella; sister-in-love Virginia Thackston Dorsey; brother-in-love Munro Thackston and his wife Denise; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Judson and Elizabeth Hamilton, Sr., his father and mother-in-love Harvey and Virginia Thackston, his brothers-in-love Bill Thackston and Jimmy Thackston, and his fur-daughter Happy Hamilton.
The family requests, in lieu of flowers, that donations be given in Judson's name to the American Humane Society (or the animal advocacy and rescue group of choice) or to the Parkinson's Foundation of Georgia.
