Phyllis June Darsey, age 79, of Dexter, passed away on Friday, August 12, 2016.

Services will be held at 2:00PM, Sunday, August 14, 2016 at Buckhorn United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Frank Morris, Rev. Tim Paulk and Rev. Michael Beard will officiate. The family will receive friends 6:00PM until 8:00PM on Saturday evening at Townsend Brothers Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Derek Gilbert, Anthony Hamby, Jonathan Acree, Chad Russell, Jacob Barron, Kaleb Tidwell and Alex Reese.

June retired from the Georgia Correctional System. She was an active member of Buckhorn United Methodist Church, and previous owner of June's Laundry Basket. She worked for ABC Home health and loved mission work, even going to Mexico to help to build a church. Mrs. Darsey was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her father, Ronald Myers; mother, Meda Alderman; daughter, Julie Acree, and brothers, Jimmy Myers and Chuck Alderman.

Survivors include her husband, G.W. Darsey of Dexter; children, Jan (Earl) Turner of Dublin, Jay (Debbie) Reese of Minter, Joey Beard of Dublin, Joanette (Joey) Savage of Dexter, Donna (Danny) Smith of Dexter, Jenny Hobbs of East Dublin, Michael (Wanda) Beard of Opelika, AL and Christine (David) Barron of Foley, AL; brothers, William (Shelby) Myers of Hartwell, Gregory Myers and Alan Myers both of Austell, and Phillip Myers of North Carolina; sisters-in-law, Carolyn (Billy) Burney of Dexter, Anita (Patrick) Grishop of Macon, and Gerri Alderman of Akron, OH; 21 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
