Services for J.W. Tanton, Jr. will be held at 2:00PM on Saturday, October 4, 2014 in the Chapel of Townsend Brothers Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Dublin Memorial Gardens. Rev. Hugh Spivey and Rev. Larry Rowland will officiate. Mr. Tanton passed away on Thursday, October 02, 2014. J.W. was born in Johnson County to the late J.W. Tanton, Sr. and the late Nanilou Warren Tanton. He was retired from the Coca Cola Company. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ella Lee Garnto Tanton and mother of his children, Clara Tanton. Survivors include his daughters, Diane (Ed) Hester of Dublin and Linda (Don) Thigpen of Dublin; brother, Rev. Bennett M. (Mavis) Tanton of Dublin; sister, Myra M. Peavy of Hardwick; five grandchildren and several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Tracy Scott, Curtis Brinson, Christopher Brinson, Brock Smith, Daryl Tanton and Dusty Henderson. The family will receive friends on Friday from 6:00PM until 8:00PM at Townsend Brothers Funeral Home.
