Kathy Lavey, age 66, of Dudley, passed away on Thursday, February 2, 2017.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00AM on Saturday, February 4, 2017, in Dublin Memorial Gardens. Rev. Larry Waldrep will officiate.

Mrs. Lavey was born in Laurens County and was a 1968 graduate of Dexter High School. She attended Brewton-Parker College, Georgia Southwestern State University, and obtained her Masters Degree in Early Childhood Education from Georgia College and State University. Kathy worked as an educator for 32 years, teaching in the Laurens County School System, as well as, the Montgomery, Ala., school system.

She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Hill Kitchens, and her mother, Vasti Kitchens.

She is survived by her husband, Tony Lavey, of Dudley; sons, Shaun Collins (Olga) and Dustin Collins (Sandra); grandchildren, Taiya, Murphy, Lily, Brooke, Christopher, Katie, Ethan, Erin, and Conner; stepsons, Tony Lavey, Jr. (Melissa), and Christopher Lavey, Sr.; stepdaughter, Megan Lavey-Heaton (Michael); sister, Gwen Hester (Don) and brother, Buddy Kitchens.
