Services for Kodell Montford Thomas, age 93, of Dublin, will be held on Saturday, October 23, 2010 at 2:30 PM in the Chapel of Townsend Brothers Funeral Home with burial to follow in Northview Cemetery. Dr. Cliff Morris will officiate. A lifelong resident of Laurens County, Mrs. Thomas was the daughter of the late Dr. H.L. Montford and the late Nora Gertrude Register Montford of Laurens County and was retired in 1991 from Carl Vinson VA Medical Center as Librarian after 32 years of service. She was a member of First Baptist Church and the Hope Chavous Sunday School Class. She was also a member of Central Georgia Genealogical Society, Laurens Co. Historical Society and Order of the Eastern Star. She was the widow of Albert L. (Skeet) Thomas, who preceded her death in January 1992 after 57 years of marriage. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Margaret Jeanette Montford and Reba Woods and a daughter, Martha Sue Thomas Peppas. Survivors include her daughter, Marcia Ann Thomas of Dawsonville, three granddaughters; Lisa Fulford of Macon, Jennifer Hatton and Melissa Hatton both of Athens, two grandsons; Robert (Ekaterina) Fulford, Jr. of Newport News, VA and Christopher (Missy) Peppas of Acworth, two great-grandchildren, Robert Fulford and Nikol Chernisheva, both of Newport News, VA; two nieces; Jane Jennings of Raleigh, NC and Becky Joiner of Edison; a nephew, Wayne (Sam) Woods of Hawkinsville; son-in-law, George Peppas of Atlanta; special granddaughter, Sarah Witmer of Tennille; special daughter, Brenda Manley of Dublin, special friends and caregivers; Sadie Smith, Joe Whipple and Gladine Davis and her three beloved cats; Ling Ling, Willie and Wee-Tiny. Pallbearers will be Daryl Witmer, Joe Whipple, Harry Graham, Kellam Orr, Erwin Orr and Bob Tarpley. Honorary Pallbearers will be Tal Orr, Perry Edge, J.W. Zetterower, Robert Pullen and George Smith. The family will receive friends at Townsend Brothers Funeral Home on Friday, October 22, from 6:00PM until 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Serenity Place, 504 Parker Dairy Road, Dublin, GA 31021, or to the Laurens Co. Humane Society, 618 Firetower Rd, Dublin, GA 31021.
