Mr. L. L. "Shorty" Rogers, 85, of Dudley, passed away Monday, November 17, 2014, at the Carl Vinson VA Medical Center in Dublin.
Services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, November 20, 2014, at Dudley United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Dublin Memorial Gardens. Rev. Ed Ellington will officiate. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6:00 PM until 8:00PM at Townsend Brothers Funeral Home
Mr. Rogers was born on May 17, 1929, the son of the late Loran Leo Rogers, Sr., and Eunice Thomas Rogers.
Mr. Rogers was a lifelong resident of Laurens County. He was a Veteran of the U. S. Army. He was a retired farmer, and previously worked at J. P. Stevens, Moorman Feed Company, Dekalb Seed, and B E & K Construction. He was also a lifelong member, and former deacon, of Dudley United Methodist Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, farming, and spending time with his family and friends.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Rogers was preceded in death by his wife of sixty-one years, Gloria Snellgrove Rogers. He is survived by his daughter, Cynthia Kay "Cindy" Rogers, of Grovetown, son, Terry (Cindy) Rogers, of Dudley, two grandsons, Blair (Lana) Rogers, of Dudley, Blake (Courtney) Rogers, of East Dublin, five great grandchildren, Kiersten, Brennan, Mason, Gunner, and Piper Rogers, sister, Mary Nell (Bobby) Radney, of Forsyth, several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Jimmy Rogers, Larry Curry, Larry Allen, Blair Rogers, Blake Rogers, and Ricky Harrison will serve as pallbearers.
