Services for Lawrence Hirsch "Larry" Hickman, age 88 of Dublin, will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, January 9, 2013 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Dublin Memorial Gardens. Father Stephen Pontzer will officiate. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service at the church. Mr. Hickman died Monday, January 6, 2014 at Fairview Park Hospital. Mr. Hickman was a graduate of St. Aloysius High School in Vicksburg, MS. He graduated from Tulane University with a degree in Mathematics. A U. S. Navy veteran, Mr. Hickman was stationed at Eniwetok, Marshall Islands during World War II. Following his service, he graduated from Mississippi State University with a degree in Electrical Engineering and then worked with General Electric and Greenville Mills Carpet in Greenville, MS. Mr. Hickman moved to Dublin in 1965 with Mohawk Carpet Mill. He loved life in Dublin and was active in the Dublin Country Club, Elks Club, and Knights of Columbus. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Mr. Hickman was happily married to Dolly Ezell Hickman for forty-nine years, who preceded him in death. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, James G. Hickman and Teresa Peatross Hickman; two brothers, Sonny Hickman, and Billy Hickman; and two sisters, Mary Brunini and Teresa Hickman. Survivors include his children, Anne Hickman, of Kingsland, Australia, Mike Hickman, of Marietta, and Cathy Hickman, of Dublin, and several nieces and nephews. Larry leaves behind his "best friend", Louie the Shih-tzu. The family would like to especially thank the staff and residents of Sheridan Assisted Living for their care and friendship. He had enjoyed living there for more than five years and felt he belonged in the "Sheridan family"
