Leisa Murkerson Owens, age 63, passed away on September 26, 2026.

She was born on May 21, 1963, in Dublin, Georgia, and lived a life marked by love, devotion, and quiet strength. Known to many simply as Leisa, she will be remembered for the warmth she shared with others and for the deep care she gave to her family throughout her life. Leisa was the beloved daughter of the late Edward "Nooks" Murkerson and Lydia Wood Murkerson. She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Sue M. Huntley, William Murkerson, Deborah Murkerson Fountain, and Jean Murkerson. Their memories remained close to her heart, and she carried the bonds of family with her always.

She is survived by her children, Lindsay Owens and her husband Ryan Smiley of Midway, Georgia, and Caleb Owens and his wife Brittany of Dublin, Georgia. She was a proud grandmother to Evie Albritton, who brought great joy to her life. She is also survived by her sisters, Ann M. Avant and Judy Murkerson-Segura, along with several nieces and nephews who will cherish her memory.

Before becoming a mother, Leisa worked in the office at Forstman Warehouse, where she was known for her dependable nature and strong work ethic. She carried those same qualities into every part of her life. She enjoyed spending time at the lake, especially boating and fishing, and found peace in the simple pleasures of being outdoors. More than anything, she treasured time spent with her family. Her love for them was steadfast and unconditional, and she made sure they knew how deeply they were valued.

Leisa was a loving and thoughtful woman whose presence brought comfort to those around her. She had a gentle spirit and a caring heart, and she touched the lives of many through her kindness and sincerity. Her family was the center of her world, and she devoted herself to them with grace and loyalty. Those who knew her will remember her for the love she gave so freely and for the way she made others feel seen and cared for.

Leisa's family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Townsend Brothers Funeral Home. Services will be held at 11:00 AM, on Thursday, October 01, 2026, in the Mary Whitaker Townsend Memorial Chapel with Rev. Robbie Passmore officiating. Burial will follow in Snowhill Baptist Church Cemetery in Cadwell, GA.

Pallbearers will be Cristian Noguera, Shaun Browning, Craig Haywood, Rodney Rea, Don Murkerson, and Jacob Segura.
