LeRoy Stanley McClusky of Plains, Georgia and formally of Dublin, Georgia died January 7, 2011 at Lillian Carter Health and Rehabilitation Center in Plains. Funeral service will be Sunday, January 9, 2011 at 2 PM at Henry Memorial Presbyterian Church 511 Bellevue Ave. Dublin, Ga. Dr. Jack Key and Dr. Greg Garis will officiate. The family will receive friends at the church from 1 2 PM Sunday. Graveside service with Masonic Rites will be at Dublin Memorial Gardens. The mens Sunday Bible class will serve as honorary pallbearers. Mr. McClusky was born at Long Island, Alabama, June 7, 1916 and reared Chickamauga, Georgia. His parents were: William L. McCluskey and Maggie Shirley McCluskey. In addition to his parents He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years Mary Gallaher McClusky and brothers, Woody McCluskey and William T. McCluskey, son- in- law Ray E. Tyner and step mother Flora McCluskey. Survivors: Daughter Shirley M. Tyner, Granddaughter Yvette Armstrong (Al) and great grandchildren Carmen Elizabeth Armstrong and Andrew Dylan Armstrong all of Albany, Ga., Brother W.J. McCluskey (Lanova) of Old Hickory, Tn, Sister Sylvia M. Betts (Frank) Athens, Ga. , Sisters-in-law Edith (Toto) McCluskey of Tallahassee, Fl . and Mildred G. Campbell of Ten Mile, Tn., Brother-in- Law Roy Gallaher (Vivian) of Rockwood, Tn. , nieces Claire McCluskey of Savannah, Ga., Margaret M. Pile (Bob) of Pall Mall, Tn., Lauren Betts of Athens, Ga., nephews Bill McCluskey Jr. of Tallahassee, Fl and W.D. McCluskey (Janet) of Old Hickory, Tn. , and special friend Mrs. Georgia Perry of Dublin. Mr. McClusky graduated from Lee High School Chickamauga, Ga. and Tennessee Weslyan College in Athens, Tn. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy Seabees in the South Pacific during WWII. He was always an athlete, playing football, basketball, softball, golf and for a time, as a professional baseball player. He moved to Dublin in 1969 to become engineer with J.P. Stevens (Nathaniel and Dublin Plants) where he was known as Mr. Roy. Following retirement with J.P. Stevens he became the golf course superintendent for a number of years at the Dublin Country Club. He was a member of Henry Memorial Presbyterian Church where he taught the mens Sunday Bible class and was an ordained Elder. He was a long time member of the Dublin Country Club (having served as President of the Board of Directors) and the Dublin Rotary Club. He was a Paul Harris Fellow of Rotary. Mr. McClusky was a member of Laurens Lodge #75 F.& A.M. as a Mason of over 68 years. He was a former member of Hasan Shrine and a charter member of Momument Lodge #741 of Albany, Georgia. Mr. McClusky was well known for his gardening skills and his large beautiful vegetable garden on Champion Ophelia Road. He was a committed Christian, a much loved and loving Dad and GrandDad, he was a faithful brother and good friend. He was respected as a loyal employee and a fair boss. He loved God, his family and friends and his Country. Mr. McClusky worked and played with all his heart and soul. He did it with all his heart.
