Mrs. Levenia Ethridge McLeod, age 91 of Dexter, GA, entered Heaven's Gate on Wednesday, December 8th, 2021 at Athens Piedmont Hospital after an extended illness. She was born on April 13, 1930 in Laurens Co. to the late Jim Frank Ethridge and the late Bessie White Ethridge. She was preceded in death by her husband, J.T. McLeod, her sisters Louise E. Mullis, Carolyn E. Woody, Frankie Daphne Ethridge, and Reba Mae Ethridge. She was also preceded in death by her brothers Wayne Ethridge and Bertis Ethridge.
Mrs. McLeod was a graduate of Rentz High School. When her father died when she was only 21, she worked to support her mother and two younger brothers for several years. She was employed by J.P. Stevens and later Forstmann, and retired after over forty years of service. For many years, she and her husband J.T. covered the state of Georgia and many arts and crafts festivals distributing Watkins products. Mrs. McLeod was a faithful member of the Chester United Methodist Church, and she loved her church congregation. She also loved her family, and she especially enjoyed cooking for all of them.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law: Jeff and Kay McLeod of Madison, Georgia; grandchildren: Mandy McLeod Caldwell (Danny) and Shelby McLeod and great granddaughter Caroline Caldwell, all of Franklin, Tennessee.
A celebration of her life will be held Friday, December 10th , at 2 pm at Buckhorn United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends one hour before the service. Burial will follow at Dublin Memorial Gardens. Memorial gifts can be made to Buckhorn United Methodist Church or to The Gideons International.
Pallbearers will be Rex Woody, Danny Caldwell, Danny Howard, Donny Screws, Terry Garnto, and Ben Tyus. The Reverends Jared Middleton, Tommy Roe, and Wayne McDaniel will officiate.
