Obituary

Lillie Chambers Ellington, 88, of Dublin, passed away, February 17, 2023, with her family by her side. She was born to the late William Clarence Chambers and the late Lizzie Adel Marsh Chambers on July 29, 1934, in Wrightsville, Georgia. Lillie graduated from Wrightsville High School in 1953, and received an Associate of Arts degree from Young Harris College in 1955; a Bachelor of Arts degree from Georgia Teachers College in 195, and a Master of Librarianship degree from Emory University in 1964.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Edward Virgil Ellington, Jr.; daughter, Lili "Sue" Ellington Bozeman (Raphael "Skip*); son, Edward "Zeke* Virgil Ellington. III (Rebecca): son-in-law, Andrew Craig Silas: grandchildren, Jeremy Cole Silas, Ashley Anna Silas Blair (Markus), Sydney Amelia Bozeman, Blake Anthony Bozeman, Charles Edward Ellington, and Lylah Jane Ellington; great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn McKenzie Blair, and Hannah Grace Blair; brother, James Thomas Chambers (Candy); sisters, Annie Ellen Chambers Smith, Nellie Chambers Schwitzer (Robert), and Rubydel "Dale" Chambers Pulliam; niece,  (sister by choice) Kim Lynn Thomas Page
(Ricky), and many other nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Heather O'Joy Jones Silas; brothers, Robert Henry Chambers, Wilbur Little Chambers, and Clarence Paul Chambers; and sister, Evie Chambers Thomas.
Lille and Edward were married at the Laurens county Library, where she served as a librarian for over twenty-eight years. She was a devoted and faithful member of Dudley Wesleyan Church, formerly Dudley United Methodist Church. She passed down her love and appreciation for reading, learning, and gardening to her
children and grandchildren.
Funeral services for Lillie Chambers Ellington will be held at Dudley Wesleyan Church Monday, February 20, 2023, at 2:00 p.m., with burial to follow at Dublin Memorial Gardens. Reverend
Sam Collins and Reverend Tommy Veal will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the Ellington Fellowship Hall at Dudley Wesleyan Church.
Pallbearers will be Ronald Atkinson, Ricky Harrison, Bobby Kight, Scott Kilgo, Bryant Lott, and Marty Lybrand.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the charity of your choice.
