Linda
Johnson
d. Mar 5, 2017
Linda Heath Johnson, 70, passed away March 5, 2017, at her home in Dublin. Linda was born in Fernandina Beach, Florida, on December 6, 1946, to James and Bessie Heath. She attended elementary school in Waycross, Georgia. Shortly before her high school years, her family moved to Saint Marys, Georgia, and in 1965 she graduated from Camden County High School. Not long after high school graduation, she went to Atlanta to attend Massey Junior College, where she earned an accounting/bookkeeping degree, all the while keeping her eyes open for a suitable husband. After graduating from Massey, she found one (John), but she didn't tell him because she wanted him to figure it out for himself, which he eventually did. Their first date (a blind date) was on April 22, 1967. They were married June 15, 1968. And they lived happily ever after for forty-eight years, seven in East Point, seven in Valdosta and thirty-four in Dublin. Linda loved much and was much loved by many. For twenty years or more she taught children's Sunday School, first at Valdosta First Baptist Church and then at Dublin Bible Church. She was a living example of the "wife of noble character" described in Proverbs 31. Paraphrasing, "She was worth far more than rubies. Her husband had full confidence in her and lacked nothing of value. She brought him good, not harm, all the days of her life…Her son arose and called her blessed; her husband also, and he praised her: "Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all."NIV And she prayed. She prayed morning, noon and night. She prayed when she woke up in the middle of the night. She prayed when she took her daily walk, when she had her morning quiet time, when she worked around the house or in the yard, when she met with a ladies' prayer group and at every other opportunity she had. And God listened. She was preceded in death by her parents, James T. Heath and Bessie O. Arnold. She is survived by her husband John; her son Jay and his wife Lauren and their children, Jack, Clementine and Bear; her brother James H. Heath, Sr., his wife Elaine, and their two children, James H. Heath, Jr. and his wife Ashey, and Tobie Heath and her three children. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at the Dublin Bible Church. Burial will follow in Dublin Memorial Gardens. Reece A. Lester and Chad N. Zueck will officiate. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until funeral hour on Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations are made to the ABC Women's Clinic, P.O. Box 1927, Dublin, GA, 31040.
