Dr. Linda Smith Sweat, age 69, of Adrian, passed away on Saturday, February 11, 2017. Graveside services will be held at 2:00PM in Dublin Memorial Gardens. Rev. Tommy Veal will officiate. Honorary pallbearers will be John Gould, James Hutcheson, Randy Thompson, and Ricky Smith. Dr. Sweat was born in Laurens County to the late Brooks and Helen Wood Smith. She was a 1964 graduate of Cochran High School. She also graduated from Middle Georgia College and Georgia Southern College, obtaining her degree in education. Linda earned her doctorate degree, while working at the Heart of Georgia Technical College in Dublin. Linda was a very active member of the First Baptist Church of Cochran, before later joining the United Methodist Church in Adrian. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James S. Sweat. Survivors include her son, Kel Sweat (Angie) of Adrian; grandsons, Jonathan Brooks Sweat, Christopher James Sweat, and William Edward Sweat, all of Adrian; brother, Larry B. Smith (Gloria), of Richland, GA; aunt Doris Smith, of Waynesboro, and a number of cousins.
