Services for Mrs. Louise Thigpen Pope, age 90 of Dexter will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, January 27, 2012 at Buckhorn United Methodist Church. Rev. Tim Paulk and Rev. Larry Waldrep will officiate. Burial will follow in Dublin Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Pope passed away Wednesday, January 25, 2012. Mrs. Pope was a born in Scott and was the daughter of the late Richard Thigpen and Rilla Spell Thigpen. She was a member of the Buckhorn United Methodist Church and the Adult Sunday School Class. She was a retired educator with 38 years of service and was a GED Instructor and GED Examiner for the Laurens County Board of Education for 35 plus years. Mrs. Pope was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel H. Pope and a sister, Juanita T. Anderson Jenkins. She is survived by her daughter and son in law, Danielle P. and Raymond Brown of Dexter, granddaughters; Ashley B. (Dusty) Wood of Dexter, Rayna B. (Travis) Dubberly of Dublin, great granddaughters, Rayley Dubberly and Zoey Wood, step granddaughter, Karey B. (Clayton) McCoy, step great granddaughters, Taylor McCoy and Marlee McCoy, several nieces and nephews. Nephews will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Louise T. Pope, to the Buckhorn United Methodist Church Missions. The family will be at the Pope home, 204 Line Street, Dexter and will receive friends at Townsend Brothers Funeral Home on Thursday evening from 5:30 PM until 7:30PM
