Graveside services for Lucill McGowan Davis, age 92, of Dublin, will be held at 2:30 PM Friday, May 13, 2011 at Dublin Memorial Gardens. Rev. Wayne Durden will officiate. Mrs. Davis died Tuesday, May 10, 2011. She was a native of Laurens County and was the daughter of the late Leonard and Susie Foskey McGowan. Mrs. Davis was a homemaker. Mrs Davis was a charter member as well as the oldest living member of Pinehurst Drive Baptist Church, Lucy loved her church and the stained glass windows hanging in honor of her late husband was her labor of love. She cared for the nursery, raised, and touched many young lives. Lucy's talent for cooking for family and friends brought her much joy. In her younger days, she often carried her grandchildren for a weekend fishing trip to the lake. Whether you referred to her as Lucy, Mother, Mama, or Nanie she was loved by everyone she touched. She was a soft spoken Christian woman who lived every day for her Lord. The last two years of her precious life she was a resident of Dublinair Health Care and Rehabilitation Center. The staff loved her and could always count on a smile and her big blue eyes and truly will be missed. Mrs. Davis was predeceased by husband, Ralph Davis; son, Howard Davis; brother, Edgar McGowan; and son in law, Joel Wright. Survivors include her daughter, Lavern Davis Wright; daughter in law, Bobbie Davis; granddaughters, Susan D. Wright (Joseph Martin), Cynthia D. O'Quinn (Aubry), and Crysta D. Neyman (Kevin); great grandsons, Eric and Trey Mimbs. and very special niece, Karen Tyson. Robert Drew, Aubry O'Quinn, Kevin Neyman, Eric Mimbs, Doyle McGowan and Morris Mackey will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends Friday, May 13, 2011, from 1:00PM until 2:00PM at Townsend Brothers Funeral Home. The family will gather at her daughter's residence 202 Mimosa Dr.
