Services for Lucy Woodard McAfee, age 94, of Dublin will be held at 4:30 PM Sunday, September 15, 2013 in the Chapel of Townsend Brothers Funeral Home. Rev. Keith Hall and Rev. Gene Hemingway will officiate. Private family graveside services will follow. The family will receive friends Sunday from 3:30 PM until the funeral hour. Mrs. McAfee died Friday, September 13, 2013. Mrs. McAfee was the daughter of the late Samuel Franklin Woodard and the late Mamie Martin Woodard. She retired from J.P. Stevens and was a member of Blue Water Baptist Church and the Ada Arthur Sunday School Class. Mrs. McAfee volunteered for the Red Cross and was an avid gardener. In her younger days, she loved to visit the sick and shut-ins and take them food, in particular apple tarts. She was a homemaker who loved taking her grandchildren fishing. Special thanks to Mrs. McAfee's caregivers, Lillian Brown, Georgiann Paisley, Bernice Boston, Glenda Prymus, Ann McCloud, and Rose Fullwood. In addition to her parents, Mrs. McAfee was preceded in death by her husband Raymond McAfee, five brothers, and four sisters. Survivors include her children, Ann McAfee (Wayne) Christian, Roger (Denise) McAfee, all of Dublin; grandchildren, Dawn (Gene) Stevens, of Dublin, Dedie (Greg) Holley, of Hoschton, Dana Ray, of Dublin, Mason McAfee, of Pooler, Patrick McAfee, of Pooler, Geoffery Clapp, of Atlanta, Sean Clapp, of Savannah, and Haley Scarboro, of Atlanta, 9 great grandchildren, sister in law, Reva Woodard of Dublin. Don Christian, Tim Kennedy, Mason McAfee, Patrick McAfee, Gene Stevens, and Greg Holley will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Georgia Baptist Children's Home, 9420 Blackshear Highway, Baxley, GA 31513 and Blue Water Baptist Church Building Fund, 2663 Highway 441 South, Dublin, GA 31021.
