Obituary

Luelle C. Pinholster, 98, of Dublin, passed away peacefully in her sleep, December 26, 2014, at Twelve Oaks Senior Care. She was born August 24, 1916 in Echols County, GA, and was the daughter of the late Floyd C. Carter and Allie Burgess Carter. Mrs. Pinholster was the former owner and operator of Pinholster's Book and Gift Shoppe, Dublin, GA, with her late husband, James Doyle Pinholster. She was a member of First Baptist Church and a teacher of a Ladies Bible Class for many years and active in various organizations of the Church. Mrs. Pinholster had been a member of the Downtown Dublin Merchants Association, Chamber of Commerce, Women's Study Club, Laurens County Museum and Historical Association, Dublin Associaton of Fine Arts, a charter member of the Dublin Pilot Club and was honored to be selected as Dublin-Laurens "Woman of the Year" in 1981. After retirement, she did volunteer service in Nursing Homes and Retirement Centers, Bible Study at VA Hospital, Meals on Wheels delivery, and other community services. She also did Volunteer Mission work in Liberia, Africa with the Georgia Baptist Convention, and also taught a literary class at Laurens County Library. Mrs. Pinholster was preceded in death by her husband, James Doyle Pinholster, a son Jerry Carter Pinholster; an only sister, Idelle C. Prine, wife of the late B. C. Prine, Jr.; and nieces Myra P. Bittick, wife of retired Sheriff Carey Bittick, Jr. of Forsyth, GA. Survivors include her son, J. Doyle Pinholster and wife Phyllis of Banner Elk, NC; granddaughter, Teresa P. Davis of Woodruff, SC, wife of the late Rev. Donald P. Davis, grandsons Stephen D. Pinholster of Hilton Head, SC; and Stuart C. Pinholster, and wife Wendy of Lexington, SC; five great grandchildren, and eight great-great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Pat Prine, a nephew of Slocumb, AL, Sheriff John Cary Bittick of Monroe County, Forsyth, GA, retired Sheriff and US Marshall L. Cary Bittick, Jr. of Monroe County, Forsyth, GA, Wallace and Shirley Miller of Dublin, and Dr. J. W. Zetterhower of Dublin will serve as honorary pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to KidStuff-USA Inc P.O. Box 1379 Lawrenceville, GA 30046 or to First Baptist Church Missions, 405 Bellevue Avenue, Dublin, GA 31021. Funeral services will be held at 1:00PM on Monday, December 29, 2014, in the Chapel of Townsend Brothers Funeral Home. Dr. G. Lamar Holley will officiate. A great granddaughter Meleah Tate of Simpsonville, SC will provide piano music for the service. A private family interment will follow at Dublin Memorial Gardens.
