Services for Lydia Seretha Wood Murkerson, age 81, of Dublin, will be held at 4:00 PM Sunday, July 15, 2012 in the Chapel of Townsend Brothers Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Snow Hill Cemetery. Allen Knight will officiate. The family will receive friends from 3:00 PM until the funeral hour. Mrs. Murkerson died Friday, July 13, 2012. Mrs. Murkerson was the daughter of the late Jewel Wood and the late Cora Knight Wood. She was a Jehovah's Witness and a homemaker. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by husband, Edward "Nooks" Murkerson; son, William Murkerson; daughter, Jean Murkerson; and sister, Ruth Wood Patisaul. Survivors include daughters, Ann Murkerson Avant, of East Dublin, Leisa Murkerson Owens (Dennis), of Dublin, Sue Murkerson Huntley, of Woodstock, Deborah Murkerson Fountain, of Rentz, Judy Murkerson-Segura (Tony), of Cartersville; thirteen grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren. Craig Haywood, Shaun Browning, Rodney Rea, Tony Segura, Shane Knight, and Tad Coleman will serve as pallbearers.
