Services for Morgan Gilbert Allen, age 78, of Dublin, GA will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, February 22, 2011 in the Chapel of Townsend Brothers Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Dublin Memorial Gardens. Rev. Cole Morris, Rev. Billy Daws, and Rev. Al Soles will officiate. Mr. Allen was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Allen, an infant daughter, Margaret Carol Allen, and two sisters, Lillian Perry and Glenda Thigpen. He retired from Southeast Paper Company. He previously served as Assistant Chief of the Civil Defense Rescue Squad and a US Army veteran. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Survivors include his wife, Carolyn NeSmith Allen, son, Lonnie Gilbert Gil Allen (Robyn), daughter, Angela Allen Edwards (Edwin), all of Dublin; five grandchildren, Megan Allen of Warner Robins, Miles Allen, Matthew Edwards, Dustin Edwards, and Morgan Edwards, all of Dublin; two step-grandchildren, Ross Griffith and Will Griffith, both of Dublin; two sisters, Judy Vaughn (Danny) and Elizabeth Tarpley, both of Dublin; four brothers, Charles Allen (Sara Jean), Jimmy Allen (Sarah), Virgil Allen (Barbara), all of Dublin, and Luis Allen (Gail) of Dallas, Texas and several nieces and nephews. Matthew Edwards, Dustin Edwards, Morgan Edwards, Miles Allen, Richie Allen, and David Graham will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at Townsend Brothers Funeral Home on Monday from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Serenity Place 504 Parker Dairy Road Dublin, GA 31021.
