Mack Bryant "Sonny" Carroll III
A memorial service for Mack Bryant "Sonny" Carroll will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, October 25, 2011, at Pine Forest United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday, October 24, at Townsend Brothers Funeral Home.
Mr. Carroll was born in Dublin, Georgia, and was preceded in death by his father, M. B. Carroll Jr. and his mother, Janette Sessions Carroll.
Mr. Carroll received his education at Georgia Military College, served in the U.S. Army Signal Corps, and retired from BellSouth and Piggly Wiggly. He was a charter member of Pine Forest United Methodist Church and was a member of the Pine Forest Men's Club, American Legion, and the Telephone Pioneers. He was also a former member of the Elks Club, Moose Club, and Dublin Country Club.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Betty Chester Carroll of Dublin; two sons, Alan (Alicia) Carroll and Michael C. (Becky) Carroll of Dublin; two grandchildren, Callie Carroll and Clay Carroll of Dublin; a sister, Jean Carroll Russell of Hermitage, Tennessee; cousins Nan (J. W.) Scarboro of Dublin and Buddy (Marilyn) of Woodstock, Georgia, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Pine Forest United Methodist Church.
