Services for Mae C. Thaggard, age 81, of Dublin will be held on Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at 2:00 PM at Poplar Springs South Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Nolan McDaniel and Rev. Lewis Miller will officiate. Mrs. Thaggard was the daughter of the late Horrie Couey and the late Inez Holder Couey. She is also preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Neal Alex Thaggard, two sons, Michael Neal Thaggard and Horrie Alexander "Andy" Thaggard, grandson, Joey Howell, sister, Marie Ward, and two brothers, Carlos Couey and Buddy Couey. She was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother. Mrs. Thaggard was a lifelong member of Poplar Springs South Baptist Church and a member of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed crocheting and was an avid reader. She was famous for her apple tarts and Ma Ma's biscuits. She is survived by a son, Dean Thaggard of Dublin, two daughters, Cathy Price (Clay) of Marietta and Penny Howell (Gary) of Moultrie, seven grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren, three sisters, Blanch Wood of Glenwood, Quinelle Floyd (Morris) of Cochran, and Maudell Hutchenson (Billy) of Dublin, a brother, Frank Couey (Delores) of Warner Robins, and numerous nieces and nephews. Nephews will serve as pallbearers and the deacons of Poplar Springs South Baptist Church will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Tuesday at 6pm-8pm at Townsend Brothers Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Poplar Springs South Baptist Church building fund or a charity of choice.
