Services for Mrs. Marcelyn Adams Howell, 90, will be held Friday, June 3, 2016 at 2:00PM in the First Baptist Church, Dublin with burial to follow in Northview Cemetery. Rev. Will Fason will officiate.
A lifelong resident of Laurens County, Mrs. Howell was born on July 12, 1925 in Dodge County. She was the daughter of the late Rosa Ward and Preston F. Adams of Eastman. After graduating from high school, she worked briefly at Robins Air Force Base. She was a homemaker and a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She worked for Max Brown Pharmacy, assisting him in opening his new store in the 1970's.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Dublin and a member of the Townsend-Smith Sunday School Class. She enjoyed gardening and camping. Mrs. Howell was preceded in death by her husbands, Hollis Charles Howell and Younger Wyatt Shelton; a son, Preston Wyatt Shelton; son in laws, Jackie Randall Donaldson and Derrell Lee Holt, Sr.; and sisters, Moena Rose Adams and Rosalyn Adams Minter. Mrs. Howell died Tuesday, May 31, 2016 after an extended illness.
Mrs. Howell is survived by her three daughters; Sue Shelton Wynn (Jimmy) of Dublin, Shirley Shelton Holt of Dexter, Marcy Howell Harden (David) of Dublin; five grandchildren, Lee Holt (Bonnie) of Dublin, Adam Holt of Dexter, Amy Wynn Singletary of Dublin, Shane Harden (Natalie) of Charlotte, N.C., Ashley Harden Austin (Cody) of Charleston, S.C.; nine great grandchildren, Dylan, Brandon, Rachael, Hannah, and Lane Holt, Tori and Taylor Singletary, Liv and Parker Harden, and three loving caretakers, Jackie Christian, Glenda Henderson and Linda Bell.
Pallbearers will be Bob Tarpley, Earl Asbell, Mark Cooper, Jeff Cannon, Gene Mullis and Julian Reynolds. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Townsend-Smith Sunday School Class and the Friendship Group.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Serenity Hospice, 520 Hillcrest Parkway, Dublin, GA 31021 or to the First Baptist Church Hands of Ruth, 405 Bellevue Avenue, Dublin, GA 31021.
