Freeman
Apr 23, 1927 — Nov 26, 2020
Marion Ray Freeman, Sr., age 93, of Dublin, passed away on Thursday, November 26, 2020, surrounded by his loving family.
A native of Laurens County, Ray was born on April 23, 1927, to the late William and Nollie Clark Freeman. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in the Korean War. He was co-owner of Freeman Brothers' Service Station & Used Cars along with his brothers, Luther and Billy, for over 40 years. Ray was the oldest living member of Olivet Baptist Church, where he faithfully served his church in many capacities over the years.
Mr. Freeman loved hunting, fishing, and especially planting and growing sugar cane. He will always be remembered for making cane syrup, his love of barbecuing, and of course his famous Freeman's BBQ Sauce.
In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by wives, Lynn Durden Freeman and Mary Warnock Freeman; and brothers, Billy Freeman, and Luther Freeman.
Mr. Freeman's greatest joy was found in spending time with his family. He is survived by children, Carolyn Pharis (Trinton), Marilyn Vaughan (Charles), and Marion R. "Butch" Freeman, Jr. (Beth), all of Dublin; grandchildren, Jenny P. Jackson (Tim), of Bonaire, Heather D. DeJong (Daniel), of Fayetteville, Richard H. Dailey, Jr. (Stephanie), Clark F. Dailey (Susan), Christy P. Kendrick (Wade), Ashley F. Spires (Heath), Will N. Special thanks to his caregiver Ashley Belzung, and her daughter, Hadley, who he loved as his own.
