Obituary

Marion Sims New went to be with her Lord and Savior on March 17, 2015. Marion was born June 15, 1924 in Atlanta, GA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Brantley New; parents, Bess Hightower Sims and Walter Simpson Sims; and her brother, Walter Raleigh Sims. She is survived by her brother, William White (Bill) Sims (Jan) of Indian Land, SC; sister-in-law, Bettye Sims of Indialantic, FL; children, Charles Brantley New, Jr. (Susan) of Dublin, Beth New Johnson (Stanley) of Macon, Cathy New Thrasher (Ken) of Atlanta, Diane New Greene (Donald) of Gray, Deborah New Fogarty (Michael) of Dallas, TX; grandchildren, Brantley New III (Alisha), David New, Charles Johnson, Lisa Johnson Gordon (Matt), Michael Thrasher (Mary Beth), John Thrasher, Robert Thrasher, Brannen Greene Sheppard (Mitch), Bethany Greene Liles (William), Catherine Fogarty, John Michael Fogarty; great grandchildren, Brooke New, Ben, Betsy and Mary Katherine Gordon, Mary Charles and Betsy Thrasher, Pierce and Mitchell Sheppard. Marion graduated from Louisville High School in Louisville, GA and moved to Dublin when she was 19 years old. She then attended GSCW, Georgia State College for Women. She was an elder in the Presbyterian Church, a faithful Sunday School teacher even into her 80's, past President of Women of the Church, past member of Dublin Cotillion Club, retired member Dublin Service League, and member of Dublin Bridge Club. She was always a grade mother and Cub Scout leader. She especially enjoyed spending time in the afternoons with her friends playing bridge. Most of all we remember her for her enduring faith, joy for life, positive attitude, and kindness and love for others. The family extends their gratitude to Lizzie Middlebrooks, Valerie Blount, Beryl Hogan and Dean Bucher, Stone Brooke Assisted Living and Lynn Haven Health and Rehabilitation for their loving care. Visitation will be held at 1pm Saturday, March 21, 2015, in the sanctuary of Henry Memorial Presbyterian Church in Dublin, GA with service to follow at 2pm. Burial will be immediately following the celebration of her life at Dublin Memorial Gardens. Rev. Frank Beall of Pensacola, FL and Rev. Mark George will officiate. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Charles Johnson, Michael Thrasher, John Thrasher, Brantley New III, David New, Robert Thrasher and John Michael Fogarty. Honorary Pallbearers will be her sons in law, Stanley Johnson, Ken Thrasher, Donald Greene, and Michael Fogarty.
