Obituary

Funeral services for Marjorie Joiner Morton, 91, formerly of Morton Road, Glenwood GA, will be held at 11:00AM on Friday, November 19, 2010 at Rock Springs Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Bracewell Cemetery on Rock Springs Road. The Rev. Nolan McDaniel will officiate. Mrs. Morton was the widow of H.G. Morton. She was one of seven children born to the late Walter Eugene Joiner and the late Mamie Coleman Joiner. She was born on August 18, 1919. She was preceded in death by all of her siblings and two granddaughters, Pamela Morton and Sharon Morton Bracewell. She was educated in the Laurens County Schools and dedicated her life to making a loving, Christian home for her husband and sons and working alongside her husband on their family farm. Mrs. Morton was a member of Rock Springs Baptist Church for over 60 years and served the Lord in many ways through her church. She served as Sunday School teacher, Training Union teacher and director, Bible School teacher, WMU, a member of the choir and several other positions within the church. Mrs. Morton passed away on November 16, 2010 at Dublinaire Health Care and Rehabilitation Center in Dublin where she currently resided. Mrs. Morton is survived by her three sons and their wives, Clinton G. and Donna Morton, Ferrell and Vonelle Morton, and Waylon and Sydney Morton. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Chad Morton, Steve Morton and Vonda Morton; six step-grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, several step-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Morton was blessed in the last few weeks of her life with a wonderful caregiver, Ms. Mary Sumblin and the special people at Dublinaire Nursing Home. Pallbearers will be Chad Morton, Steve Morton, Alex Bracewell, Adam Lausch, Mitchell Childers, Terry Garnto, Jimmy Smith and Larry Mullis. Honorary escort will include members of her Sunday School Class from Rock Springs Baptist Church. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Townsend Brothers Funeral Home.
