Funeral services for Martha Idell Brown, age 81, of Dublin, will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, June 2, 2017 at Bethsaida Baptist Church. Burial will follow at 2:30 PM at Washington County Memorial Gardens in Sandersville. Rev. Brad Ball and Rev. Freddie Smith will officiate. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 10:00 AM. Ms. Brown died Wednesday, May 31, 2017.
Miss Brown was a retired Registered Nurse at Fairview Park Hospital with over 40 years of service in pediatrics. She was devoted to her patients and always volunteered to work Christmas and holidays to allow her co-workers with children the opportunity to be home with their families. She was a dedicated member of Bethsaida Baptist Church for over 30 years. Though she had no children, she considered her nieces and nephews as her own. She was a loving sister, aunt, and friend. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clemon C. and Cora Lee Pittman Brown; brother, James C. Brown, Sr.; sister, Dorothy Maxine Brown, and brother-in-law, Lee Roy Hatcher, Jr. Survivors include her sisters, Bobbie B. (Randy) Helton, of Sandersville, and Carol B. (Freddie) Smith, of Dublin; sister in law, Gerdine Brown, of Sandersville; special aunt, Teen Brown, of Sandersville; special friend, Catherine Holmes of Wrightsville, and numerous nieces and nephews.
James Brown, Jr., Jerry Brown, Keith Helton, Sr., Travis Hatcher, Greg Aaron, and John Andres, will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Friendship Sunday School Class and the deacons of Bethsaida Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Bethsaida Baptist Church.
