Martha Strickland Tanner, age 90 of East Dublin, passed away on Saturday, July 11, 2015.
Services will be held at 11:00AM on Monday, July 13, 2015 in the Chapel of Townsend Brothers Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Pleasant Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Tim Lumley and Mr. Mike Edge will officiate. The family will receive friends from 10:00AM until funeral hour at Townsend Brothers Funeral Home.
Martha worked 16 years at JP Stevens Co and 13 years with the Laurens County Board of Education in the lunchroom at East Laurens Primary School. She retired and became a housewife and nannie to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mrs. Tanner enjoyed working in her yards and keeping house. She was a devoted wife, mother and sister.
Martha grew up and was a member of Poplar Springs North Baptist Church in Dublin for many years. She later became a member of Clearview Baptist Church and then Forest Hills Church of God where she attended until becoming disabled. Martha loved the Lord and didn't mind sharing things that God had done for her, especially healing her knees and blessing her in many other ways.
She is preceded in death by her parents, JA and Carrie Strickland; husband, Jack G. Tanner, Sr.; brothers, James, W.L., Russell, Robert, Billy and Moye Strickland; sisters, Oretha "Pet" Baggett and Nell Maddox and son, Clyde Lee Roach.
She is survived by a daughter, Kaye Tanner Edge (Mike) of East Dublin; son, Grable Tanner of Minter; granddaughters, Rachel Parker (Cory) of Wrightsville and Valerie Maddox of Panama City Beach, FL; grandsons, Bubba Edge (Casey) of East Dublin and Logan Tanner of Minter; great-grandchildren, Grant Sharper and Gage Maddox of Panama City Beach, FL, Connor Adams and Reagan Parker of Wrightsville and Michael and Heath Edge of East Dublin; sisters, Becky White, Nannette Kimbell and Joanne Luecke (Tim) all of Dublin; sister-in-law, Linda Strickland of Dublin; brother-in-law, Marvin Tanner (Carol) of East Dublin; daughter-in-law, Sue Roach of East Dublin and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the home of Mike and Kay Edge.
