Marvin F. Etheridge of Dublin left this earth to tend God's garden on October 18, 2016, his 95th birthday. He loved the outdoors and building birdhouses.
He was born in 1921 Wilkinson County, GA, near McIntyre, to the late James Meret Etheridge and Aurelia Temples Etheridge. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Inez Hardy and brothers, Grady Ethridge, Cecil Etheridge and Ray Etheridge.
A World War II Army Veteran, Mr. Etheridge served as a medic with the 107th Station Hospital in the South Pacific. He was the recipient of 3 Bronze Stars and the Philippine Liberation Ribbon and once served guard duty for General MacArthur.
He went to work for the Carl Vinson VA Medical Center in Dublin, where he met his sweetheart. He was married for 65 years to Olga Ozbolt Etheridge of Dublin. He is survived by Mrs. Etheridge; his loving daughter and treasured son-in-law, Karen and Keith Beaty of Blairsville, GA; sister-in-law, Carol O. Thigpen of Dublin; and many special nieces and nephews, including Buddy (Tammy) Thigpen and Pat Thigpen of Dublin, Cindy (Syed) Thigpen-Ali of Las Vegas, NV, and Cathy (Mark) Friedman of Boston, MA, and also a number of special great and great-great nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00AM on Saturday, October 22, 2016 in Dublin Memorial Gardens. Father Jacob Almeter will officiate. The family will receive friends from 10:00AM until 10:30AM on Saturday at Townsend Brothers Funeral Home.
