Services for Mary Lou Thompson Colter of Dublin, will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, October 31, 2013 at First Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Cadwell Cemetery. Dr. Cliff Morris will officiate. Mrs. Colter was the daughter of the late Luke Thompson and the late Bessie Willcox Thompson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Allix Ezra Colter, son, William Jesse Colter, and grandson, Robert Luke Garbutt. She was a prior member of Cadwell Baptist Church for 50 years where she was actively involved with the youth and taught Sunday school for many years. She was a member of First Baptist Church. She was a well known Georgia artist and an avid bridge player. Survivors include her daughters, Sue Colter, of Dublin, Jackie Colter Garbutt, of Rentz, Nancy Colter, of Dublin; grandchildren, Karen Colter (Mike) Barrett, of Milledgeville, Al (Kathy) Colter, of Milledgeville, Kim Dennis Kendrick, of Hilton Head, SC, L. Jack (Alisa) Dennis, III, of Milledgeville, Allix (Dena) Dennis, of Milledgeville; and eight great grandchildren. Grandsons, Al Colter, Jack Dennis, Allix Dennis, Colter Garbutt, and great grandsons, Wen Kendrick, and Christopher Barrett will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be her great grandsons. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until the service time at First Baptist Church. The family would like to say a special thank you to the caring staff of Twelve Oaks Assisted Living Home and Integrity Hospice.
