Mary L. Gillis, age 89, of East Dublin, passed away on Saturday, August 20, 2016.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00AM on Tuesday, August 23, 2016 at Silver Leaf Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00PM until 7:00PM on Monday evening at Townsend Brothers Funeral Home.

Mrs. Gillis was a lifelong resident of Laurens County. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and sister.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Mattie Connell Churchwell; daughter, Mary Wise; brother, Freddy Churchwell, and sister, Elizabeth Burnsed.

She is survived by her children, Bobby Gillis (Paula) of Cordele, Herbert Gillis (Betty), Tommy Gillis and Linda Stewart (D.L.), all of East Dublin; 18 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and brother, Amos Churchwell of Warner Robins.
