Mary Louise Steelman Gough
Background Information: A native of Ashe County, North Carolina, Mary was the daughter of the late Howard S. Steelman and the late Ethel May Miller Steelman. She married Clarence W. Gough and resided in the Washington, D.C., area for 50 years. She worked in retail business for most of her life, and she owned and operated "The House of Needlecraft" in Falls Church, Virginia. She was a charter member of The Needlecraft Guild of Northern Virginia, a charter member of the Almanarch Ladies Shrine in Alexandria, Virginia, and a member of the Hope Chapter, Eastern Star, Fairfax, Virginia.
In 1990, after her husband died, she moved to Dublin, Georgia, to be close to her daughter and family. Mrs. Gough was a member of the First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School, was Past President of SACO (Sharing and Caring Organization), a life-time honorary member and Past President of Green Acres Garden Club, owner and operator of the House of Needlecraft on Hwy 80 until she retired in 1995, and a member of John Laurens Chapter, National Society, Daughters of the American Revolution.
Survivors Include:
daughter and son-in-law, Caroletta (Carol) Gough Ingrando (Dominic) of Dublin;
two granddaughters and grandsons-in-law, Dr. Carla Ingrando (Dr. David Winterstein) of Mishawaka, Indiana, Carmen Ingrando Golden (Chris) of Houston, Texas; one grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Tony (Dana Wilson) Ingrando of Dublin, Georgia; three great granddaughters, Isabella Ingrando, Mia Ingrando, and Grace Golden; and one great grandson, Jackson Golden.
Other survivors are four sisters, Joanna Steelman Blank of Palm Coast, Florida, Grace Steelman Shillinglaw of Monk's Corner, SC, Betty Steelman Harrison of Burlington, North Carolina, and Margaret Steelman McNeil (Kyle) of Deep Gap, North Carolina; two brothers, Harold Steelman and wife Bonnie Hampton of Deep Gap, North Carolina, James B. Steelman and wife Velva Lynn Callaway of North Wilkesboro, North Carolina; one sister-in-law, Betty Dill Steelman of Boone, North Carolina.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Clarence W. Gough of Falls Church, Virginia, and four brothers, William (Bill) Steelman, Howard (Junior) Steelman, Samuel (Sam) Steelman, and John Steelman of Deep Gap, North Carolina.
Mary will be remembered as someone who was a guiding presence in many people's lives, who always put others before herself with unconditional love. She loved to read, work in her garden, sew, needlepoint, crochet and cook. She shared her God given talents with everyone. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Pallbearers will be: Michael Maffett, Kevin Thomas, Derik Thomas, Mike Hood, Bob Tarpley and Johnny Wilson.
Honorary Pallbearers – Earl Beale, Bobby Davidson, Josh Durden, Wallace Miller, and Gilbert Turner.
The family will receive friends one hour before the funeral. Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 11, 2017, at the First Baptist Church, Dublin, GA. Rev. Cliff Morris will officiate. Burial service will follow immediately at Northview Cemetery, Dublin, GA
