Services for David Melvin Nichols, age 72, of Dexter, will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, April 13, 2015, at Mount Zion Baptist Church. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Dr. Larry Daniel will officiate. The family will receive friends following the services in the church social hall. Mr. Nichols died Saturday, April 11, 2015.
Mr. Nichols was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church, where he served as a church usher, and substitute Sunday School teacher. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great- grandfather.
Mr. Nichols was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Hazel Nichols; and brothers, Winford Nichols, Virgil Nichols, and Ernest Nichols.
He is survived by his wife, Geraldine Jump Nichols, of Dexter; children, Scott (Sherry) Nichols, of Washington, PA, Tonia (Steve) Stollar, of Senoia, GA, Robin (Mark) Baker, of Dexter, Teresa Helms, of Rentz, Tim (Sherry) McCranie, of Eastman; grandchildren, Danielle Baker, Daniel Baker, Sammy (Zooey) Warren, Matt James, Zach James, MJ Helms, Leslie (Jamey) Wilkerson, Josh (Jeannie) McCranie, Clarissa Stollar, Meagan (Alan) Garcia, Chelsea Stollar, Brandon (Ashley) Nichols, Brittany Nichols; nine great-grandchildren.
Don Beck, Ronnie Dixon, Alan Myers, Joe Thomas, Adam McDaniel, Keith Brooks, and Jimmy Arthur will serve as pallbearers.
