Merle Clark Johnson went to be with her Lord and Savior on April 27, 2017. Merle was born February 4, 1925 in Hinesville, GA. She was preceded in death by her parents, Marvin F. and Mae Burnley Clark; husbands, Lieutenant John Reed Deamer, and James Stanley Johnson, Sr.; son John Reed Deamer; four brothers, and four sisters. Survivors include her son, Stanley (Beth) Johnson, Jr., of Macon; grandchildren, Charles Johnson, of Dublin, Lisa (Matt) Gordon, of Marietta, Mary Margaret Potter, of Dublin, Reed Deamer (Rebecca Hurtado), of Napa Valley, CA; great grandchildren, Ben Gordon, Betsy Gordon, Mary Katherine Gordon, all of Marietta, Mary Shannon Potter, and John William Potter, both of Dublin. Being a longtime member of the Dublin First United Methodist Church, Merle was a member of the Friendship Sunday School Class and the Brown/Wynn Circle. She loved and was so grateful for Christ her Savior, and her family and friends. Services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, April 29, 2017 in the chapel of Townsend Brothers Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Dublin Memorial Gardens. Dr. Bob Williams will officiate. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Friday, at the funeral home. Charlie Garbutt, Billy Brown, Jim Nelson, Jep Craig, Mike Belote, Ralph Walke, Richie Everly, and Pete Tyre will serve as pallbearers. The family extends their gratitude for the care and compassion given by the staff of Southland Healthcare and Rehab. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First United Methodist Church, 305 West Gaines St., Dublin, GA 31021.
