Joseph Michael Rogers "Mike"

Mike Rogers went to be with his Lord on June 16, 2017 at the age of 70 after a brief illness. Mike was born in Dublin, Georgia on February 23, 1947 to Cecil and Laura Green Rogers.

Mike graduated from Dublin High School in 1965. Mike was a noted as "athletically inclined" and "a good friend to have". Mike was a proud member of the 1964 & 1965 Dublin football team. Mike attended South Georgia College and University of Georgia and then later in life graduated from Nova Southeastern College in Pensacola, Florida.

Mike worked his entire career in public housing. He began his career in Dublin Georgia as Director of Public Housing. Mike moved with his family to Pensacola, Florida after taking the Director of the Area Housing Commission position in Pensacola at the age of 33. He worked with this agency until he retired.

Mike's true passion was fishing. He has taught his son, daughters and grandchildren all about his love of fishing which will be carried down for generations. Mike spent his life taking care of his family, working in his church and enjoying the simple things in life. Mike was a man of God and is going to continue to live in eternal life.

Mike was preceded in death by his father, Cecil Cordy Rogers and mother Laura Green Rogers.

Mike is survived by his wife of 7 years Diane Riner Rogers, brothers Ronnie (Susan) and Steve Rogers; his loving children, Amy Wolfenden (David), David Rogers (Kelly) and Laura Creighton (Robert); his precious grandchildren Hunter, Hannah and Chandler Rogers, Belle and Cameron Wolfenden, Davis and Noah Creighton; aunt Billie Rogers Curry, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins and his lifelong friend Scott Beasley.

Scott Beasley, Larry Currie, Ray Currie, Craig Rhodes, Woody Chandler, David Green and Jimmy Green will serve as pallbearers and Sonny Radar will serve as an honorary pallbearer.

Funeral services will be held at Townsend Brother Funeral Home in Dublin, Georgia on Thursday June 22, 2017. Visitation to begin at 10:00 and services to follow at 11:00 with Pastor Carlisle Driggers. Burial to be at Northview Cemetery in Dublin.
