A funeral Mass will be celebrated for Nancy O'Driscoll, 92, on Thursday, August 29 at 11:00 A.M. at the Catholic Church of the Immaculate Conception (Hwy. 441 North) by Father Stephen J. Pontzer. Friends may visit with the family from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. in the church's entrance hall. Interment in Dublin Memorial Gardens will follow the Mass.
Mrs. O'Driscoll passed away at Serenity Place on Sunday, following a courageous battle with dementia.
Mrs. O'Driscoll was born in Listowel, County Kerry, Ireland. She was one of ten children of Denis and Lena Murphy. She, along with her husband Sean and their daughters Cathy and Helen, immigrated to the United States in 1954. Their daughter Anne was born a few years later in New York. Nancy was a dedicated homemaker. In the 1960's her family lived in the Bahamas for four years and then moved back to New York City. Later Sean and Nancy retired to New Jersey, where they lived for 21 years. While there, they founded the American-Irish Club of Whiting. They moved to Dublin, Georgia in 2004.
Nancy was predeceased by Sean, her beloved husband of 57 years, and by four brothers: Michael, Gerald, John and Tom; and two sisters: Marie Mills and Nora Ford.
Surviving family members are her children: Cathy (Randy) Clark of Dublin, Helen (Tommy) Martin of Dublin, and Anne O'Driscoll of Brooklyn, NY; grandchildren: Sean (Allison) Clark and Brian (Kristen) Clark of Dublin; John (Pam) Martin of Portland, OR; Neil Martin of Statesboro; Liam Murphy and Dylan Murphy of Brooklyn, NY; great-grandchildren: Greyson Clark, Madelyn-Gail Clark, and Tyler Clark of Dublin; brother Denis Murphy of Athy, Ireland; sisters Betty O'Sullivan and Kit Harris of Listowel, Ireland; brothers-in-law Ted Mills of Pleasantville, NY and Pat O'Sullivan of Mallow, Ireland;
and numerous nephews and nieces.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Building Fund of the Catholic Church of the Immaculate Conception, the Alzheimer's Association, and Serenity Place.
Mrs. O'Driscoll's family greatly appreciates the staff of Sheridan Place, caregivers Janie Dupree and Betty J. Mitchell, and Home Instead.
Townsend Brothers Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
Grandsons Sean Clark, Brian Clark, Neil Martin, Liam Murphy and Dylan Murphy will serve as pallbearers.
