Nina Colleen Barnhart Childers, age 101, of Dublin, passed away on Thursday, April 14, 2016.

Services will be held on April 17, 2016 in the chapel of Townsend Brothers Funeral Home at 2:00 PM. Reverend Grady Mimbs and Mr. Dan Childers officiating. Burial will be in the New Bethel Baptist Church cemetery.

Born June 22, 1914 in Mt. Pleasant, Pennsylvania, Mrs. Childers moved to Plant City, Florida at an early age. She picked strawberries and oranges in Florida during her teen years. She married on April 26, 1938 and moved to Georgia where she became a homemaker and worked on the farm. Sewing was also one of her favorite pastimes. She joined the Lutheran Church at an early age, then later attended Baptist churches.

Mrs. Childers was preceded in death by her parents Albert O. Barnhart and Etta Rachel Lehman Barnhart, three sisters and two brothers, husband Horace Childers, daughter Carol Childers Hammock and a great granddaughter Chasity Nichole Veal.

Survivors include son, David (Joyce) Childers and daughter, Barbara Sue Childers Young, all of Dublin, eleven grandchildren, twenty-one great grandchildren, twelve great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Lamar Hodges, Denny Childers, Kevin Childers, Travis Young, Brian Young and Eric Young.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM and may be reached at the home of David Childers.
