Services for Norma Hazel Vann DeGroat will be held at 10:00AM Wednesday, November 3, 2010, in the chapel of Townsend Brothers Funeral Home. Rev. Nolan McDaniel will officiate. Burial will be private. Mrs. DeGroat was the daughter of the late Roy Carr and the late Flossy Mae Edge Carr. She worked for twenty years at Lecthworth Village in New York and returned to her hometown of Dublin following retirement. Mrs. DeGroat was a member of the Laurens County Senior Citizens and attended Oakdale Baptist Church. She had a love for Atlanta Braves baseball. Mrs. DeGroat was preceded in death by her husband, Robert DeGroat, and son, Edward Vann. She died Saturday, October 30, 2010. Mrs. DeGroat was a loving mother and grandmother and will be truly missed. Survivors include her children, David Vann, Roy Vann, Linda Kay Lawrie, Dorothy Johnson, Barbara Solomon, Joann Guzzman, Linda Marie DeGroat; fourteen grandchildren, and twenty great grandchildren. Nick Bush, Matt Kitchens, Walter Warnock, Robby Vann, Jesse Manning, and Spencer White will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00PM until 8:00PM at Townsend Funeral Home.
