Services for Oliver Randolph Bennett, Jr., age 86 of Dublin, will be held at 4:00PM on Sunday, February 23, 2014 in the Chapel of Townsend Brothers Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Dublin Memorial Gardens. Dr. Joel Dent and Mr. Keith Johnson will officiate. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 3:00PM until funeral hour. Mr. Bennett was a graduate of Dublin High School and attended Auburn University. He was a United States Navy Veteran serving in WWII. He was also a private pilot and an amateur radio operator. Mr. Bennett began his career at the Carl Vinson VA Medical Center and retired from the Veterans Administration Central Office in Washington, DC. He was a Shriner and a Mason. He was preceded in death by his parents, Oliver Randolph and Plonnie Daniel Bennett, Sr. and his wife, Vera Virginia Bland Bennett. Mr. Bennett passed away on Wednesday, February 19, 2014. Survivors include his daughter, Lynn Bennett Gardner of Ormond Beach, FL and son, Randy (Denise) Bennett of Ormond Beach, FL; grandsons, Danny Gardner and Rand Bennett; granddaughter, Megan Bennett; sisters, Grace B. Griffith of Dublin and Anne B. Knight of Dexter and several nieces and nephews. Donations in his memory may be made to your favorite charity.
