Orian Thomas Tarpley, Jr., known affectionately as Thomas to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on February 8, 2025, at the age of 81. Born on April 30, 1943, in Dublin, Georgia, Thomas was a lifelong resident who cherished his roots and the people of his hometown.

Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, Orian Thomas Tarpley, Sr. and Flauselle Thomas Tarpley, as well as his brothers, Robert and William Tarpley. His memory will be cherished and kept alive by his beloved wife of many years, Lavelle Carr Tarpley; daughter, Penny Walker of Dexter, and sons, Lance Tarpley and Craig Ayres, both of Dublin. Thomas is also survived by three grandchildren; brothers, Marvin Tarpley (Sue) of Dublin and Harvey Tarpley (Sylvia) of Statham, along with his mother-in-law, Annett Carr, and sister-in-law, Joany Harden (Wayne), both of Dublin, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Thomas's life was marked by his dedication to his community, a trait that was evident through his long and fulfilling career with the City of Dublin. His colleagues were not just coworkers but friends. Thomas was a man who loved to help others, and his generous spirit was felt by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
