Funeral Services for Paul M. Watson, Jr. age 86 of Dublin will be held at 12:00 Noon Thursday January 20, 2011 at First United Methodist Church. Dr. Jack Key and Dr. Rick Mitchell will officiate. The family will receive friends at First United Methodist Church from 11:00 AM until the funeral hour. A private family interment service will be held at Northview Cemetery. He died Tuesday, January 18, 2011. Paul M. Watson, Jr. was born and raised in Dublin. He was the son of the late P.M. Watson, Sr. and the late Hilda Devereaux Watson. After attending high school at Georgia Military Academy, he attended Mercer University. He left before graduating to join the U.S. Navy in 1943. After nearly three years he was honorably discharged and came home to take over P.M. Watson & Co. where he took control of the company for the next forty-three years. He was a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church, serving on many committees. He was also a faithful member of the Friendship Sunday school class. He was very active in the community as a civic leader and attended nearly every Dublin City Council meeting during a 25 year period. He was a member of the Jaycees, Elks, Moose, Dublin Country Club, Satilla River Club and the Bons Hommes in Macon. He was truly a beloved citizen of Dublin-Laurens County from everyones account. He is survived by his wife Becky B. Watson of Dublin, his children, P.M. (Chrystal) Watson, III of Macon, Allyson (Ken) Heard of Dublin, Benjamin E. Watson of Acworth, grandchildren, Calli Watson, Colby Watson, Daniel Watson, Elizabeth Heard and Kathryn Heard. Daniel Watson, Gregory Core, Mike Cauley, Mark Cooper, Willie Ogburn, Ostell James, Charlie Garbutt, and Paul Johnson will serve as pallbearers. Jule Green, Macon Core, Ben Snipes, Bobby Barentine, Gil Gillis, and Ralph Garner will serve as honorary pallbearers. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Serenity Hospice, 520 Hillcrest Parkway, Dublin, GA.
