Obituary

Services for Peggy Miller Nelson, age 77 of Dublin, will be held at 2:00PM on Thursday, September 19, 2013 at First United Methodist Church of Dublin. Burial will follow in Northview Cemetery. Rev. Thad Haygood, Dr. Jack Key and Rev. Jim Rush will officiate. She passed away on Monday, September 16, 2013. Mrs. Nelson was a Graduate of Screven County High School and Wesleyan College. She was a founding member of the Wesleyan College Washboard Band. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Dublin where she was a former Music and Youth Director, taught Sunday School, sang in the choir and served on many committees and boards. Mrs. Nelson held lay offices in the South GA Conference of the United Methodist Church. She was a piano teacher for many years and was a retired member of the Women's Study Club and the Dublin Service League. She was preceded in death by her parents, Rev. Pryor Ellis and Rubye Daniels Miller and a son, Ellis Miller Nelson. Survivors include her husband, Carl K. Nelson, Jr. of Dublin; son, Krather (Lynda) Nelson of Dublin; daughter, Dotte Nelson Thacker of Franklin, TN; daughter-in-law, Tamara Nelson of Panama City, FL; brother, Butch (Cecile) Miller of Dublin; grandchildren, Carlton Nelson, Courtney Nelson, Cullen Nelson, William Thacker, Grace Thacker, Forrest Nelson and Eric Diebert and nephews, Rob (Laura) Miller of Dublin, Adam (Leslie) Miller and Nathan (Chase) Miller both of Gainsville, GA. Pallbearers will be Mike Prosperi, Rob Miller, Adam Miller, Nathan Miller, Pat King, David Kellam, Carlton Nelson and William Thacker. Honorary Pallbearers will be Dr. Nelson Carswell, Jimmy Lord, W.W. Larson, Billy Wynn, Stephen Fordham, Malcolm Fordham and John Fordham. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 6:00PM until 8:00PM at Townsend Brothers Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 665, Dublin, GA 31040.
