Funeral service for R. Allen Gillespie, age 47, of Dexter, will be held at 3:00 PM Tuesday, August 30, 2016, in the chapel of Townsend Brothers Funeral Home. Pastor Rudy Brown and Rev. Keith Powell will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Mr. Gillespie died unexpectedly at home on Friday, August 26, 2016.

Mr. Gillespie, a former resident of St. Petersburg, FL, moved to Laurens County about fifteen months ago. He was employed at the Home Depot. Mr. Gillespie loved to hunt and fish.

Survivors include Tyler Allen Gillespie (son), of New Port Richey, FL; Roger and Myrna Gillespie (parents), of Dexter; Brandon (brother), Danielle (sister-in-law), and William (nephew) Gillespie, of Tampa, FL; Casey Gillespie (sister), and Phillip McDougall (brother-in-law), of London, England; Marion and Tom Ellis (aunt and uncle), of Ramer, AL; Jeff and Laura Hicks (cousins), and their children, Brandon, Jordan, and Christian, of Hamilton, OH; and beloved American bulldog, Katie.
