Ralph J. Smith, 90, of Dublin passed away on Friday, January 30, 2015 at Serenity Place. A native of Laurens County, he was born to the late Oscar W. and Eunice Lewis Smith on October 12, 1924. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers and six sisters. Survivors include his wife of 71 ½ years, Blanche Thompson Smith, whom he married on July 4, 1943; children, Marie Darsey (Howard) of Sandersville; Ralph L. Smith (Kay) of Macon, and Brenda Weaver (Jim) of Duncan, OK; 8 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and sister, Lenice Smith of Adrian. Mr. Smith, along with Rev. John Dye and David Clements, built the Wrightsville Church of the Nazarene, where he was a charter member. He has been a member of the Dublin, GA, First Church of the Nazarene since 1963. He worked at Cook Furniture in Wrightsville, Brown Furniture in Dublin, and American General Insurance, retiring in 1987. Funeral services will be held at Dublin First Church of the Nazarene on Friday, February 6 at 2:00PM. Family will greet friends one hour prior to the service. The Rev. Don Hicks, Rev. David Canen, Rev. Danny Thomas and Rev. Myron Wise will officiate. Burial will be held privately. Mr. Smith's grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Contributions may be made to Dublin Nazarene Church Building Fund or to Serenity Place.
