Ray Jones, age 69, of Dublin, GA, passed away on Wednesday, August 12, 2020, at Fairview Park Hospital.
Ray was born September 3, 1950, in Laurens County. He proudly served his country in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany. He attended Middle Georgia College and was a self-employed paint contractor by trade. As an active member of Pine Forest United Methodist Church, Ray faithfully served in numerous roles to spread God's love and discipled many. For over 35 years, he was committed to leading in the Cub Scout and Boy Scout programs.
He is preceded in death by his father, Eben Eugene Jones, Jr.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Jone Wilson Jones, of Dublin; daughters, Kelly Jones Fitzpatrick, of Athens, Crystal Jones, of Brunswick, Katie Jones Hopfensperger (Eric), of Statesboro, and Carrie Jones Eubanks (Ian), of Belle Chasse, LA. Ray is also survived by his mother, Betty Perry Jones, of Dublin; twin sister, Fay Jones-Jones (Billy), of Dublin, and a host of extended family members.
To celebrate the life of Ray, the family will receive friends and guests at a Drive-Through Only Visitation on Friday, August 14, 2020, from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Pine Forest UMC.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, August 15, 2020, in Northview Cemetery. Rev. Wes Moye and Dr. Joel Dent will officiate. Services will be live-streamed on the Townsend Brothers Funeral Home Facebook page for those who wish to watch remotely.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the ministries of Pine Forest United Methodist Church, 400 Woods Avenue, Dublin, GA 31021.
Townsend Brothers Funeral Home and Staff respectfully ask all in attendance to follow the social distancing guidelines set by our local health district and the CDC.
