Obituary

Services for Carl Raymond Thomas, age 83 of Dublin will be held at 11:00AM on Wednesday, June 5, 2013 in the Chapel of Townsend Brothers Funeral Home. Brother Danny Lovering will officiate. Burial will follow in Northview Cemetery. He passed away on Sunday, June 2, 2013 at the Carl Vinson VA Medical Center. Mr. Thomas was born in Laurens County on August 26, 1929 to the late F.B. Thomas, Sr. and the late Myrtle Paul Thomas. He was a United States Army Veteran, serving in the Korean War. He was an active member of Scott Church of Christ and retired from SP Newsprint. Mr. Thomas' greatest love in life was his faith and his family. He was a devoted husband, loving father, cherished grandfather and great-grandfather. He will be deeply missed by all those who were blessed to have loved him. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers and four sisters. Mr. Thomas is survived by his wife, Madelyn Lampp Thomas of Dublin, GA; three daughters, Angie (Calvin) Sturgis, Cindy (McGrath) Keen and Kim (Bob) Livingston, all of Dublin, GA; grandsons, Ben Lovett of Asheville, NC, Bobb Lovett of Atlanta, GA, Leh Keen of Charleston, SC and Warner Livingston of Dublin, GA; granddaughters, Caitlyn Sturgis of Dublin, GA, Courtney (Jack) Woodall of Atlanta, GA and Christie Livingston of Athens, GA; great-granddaughter, Kay Woodall of Atlanta, GA; brother, F.B. Thomas, Jr. of Dublin, GA; sister, Leila T. Parker of Dudley, GA and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Ben Lovett, Bobb Lovett, Leh Keen, Warner Livingston, Jack Woodall and Adam Tarpley. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 6:00PM until 8:00PM at Townsend Brothers Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Serenity Hospice, 520 Hillcrest Pkwy, Dublin, GA 31021 or to the Carl Vinson VA Medical Center, Attn: Agent Cashier, 1826 Veterans Blvd., Dublin, GA 31021. Please designate the donation to the "End of Life Care Hospice Program" in memory of Carl Raymond Thomas Acct. 9403.
