Graveside services for Robert David Evans, age 61, of Cadwell, will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, December 22, 2011 at Gay Cemetery Rev. Mark Hardin will officiate. Mr. Evans died Tuesday, December 20, 2011 at the V. A. Medical Center. Mr. Evans worked as a fabricator with YKK. He spent sixteen years in the military and served in Vietnam. Mr. Evans was awarded two Purple Hearts, the Bronze Star and the Silver Star. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother. Mr. Evans was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel T. Evans and Ruby Harvey Harwell Evans, and sister, Ellen Bailey. Survivors include his wife, Patricia Williams Evans; sons, Robert D. Evans, Jr. and Brian T. Evans; grandchildren, Daymon Evans, Kairi Evans, and Ava Evans, all of Cadwell; sisters, Patsy (Gene) Braswell and Joann (Reggie) Coleman; mother-in-law, Imagene Thomas; brothers-in-law, Jerry Williams, Daniel Williams, and Sammy Bailey; six nieces, two nephews, and sixteen great nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at Townsend Brothers Funeral Home from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Wednesday.
