Robert Ray Kennedy, Jr., DVM, 62, passed away of natural causes at his home in Dublin, GA on Monday, August 25, 2014. Dr. Kennedy was born in Allendale, SC on February 23, 1952. He grew up in Arizona with his family but subsequently returned home to SC. In 1983, he graduated from the University of Georgia with his doctorate in veterinary medicine, moved his family to Dublin, GA, and has been practicing medicine here since. He was an active member of Marie Baptist Church, Dublin Exchange Club, and The Sons of Confederate Veterans. He loved learning, hunting, football, and the community, but mostly his family and the Lord. Dr. Kennedy was preceded in death by his father, Robert Ray Kennedy, Sr. and his brother, Shannon Ray Kennedy. Survivors include his mother, Lottie Rainey, of Phoenix, AZ, his three children and their families: Charlotte Jones (Jason) and their children, Wyatt, Rhett, and Caroline (Lampasas, TX); Katy Ditchfield (Mike) of Charleston, SC; Robert Ray Kennedy III and daughter Carli (Commerce, GA), the mother of his children, Terry Kennedy (Charleston, SC), and his siblings: Lou Rowley, Carla Hosler, Wayne Rainey, and Sara Zamorano (all of AZ). Services will be held at 11:00AM on Saturday, August 30, 2014 at Marie Baptist Church with Rev. Bobby Hutto officiating. The family will receive friends from 9:30AM until funeral hour at the church. Burial will be held following the services in the Fairfax Cemetery at 4:00PM in Fairfax, SC.
