Services for Robert E. "Gene" Killingsworth, age 76 of Dublin, will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, August 9, 2011 at First Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Dublin Memorial Gardens. Simon Yoder will officiate.
Mr. Killingsworth was a lifelong resident of Laurens County. He was the son of the late Alton Lewis Killingsworth, Sr. and the late Myrtle Sweat Killingsworth. He was a member of the Dublin Mennonite Church, and was very active in the Church and the community. He was involved in Prison Ministry and ministering to local nursing homes. He loved helping people. He was owner and operator of Price Rite Construction and was a self employed contractor for over 50 years.
Mr. Killingsworth was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Ann Smith Killingsworth, brothers, Alton Lewis "Doc" Killingsworth, Jr., John Harris "Jack" Killingsworth, and Charles Elliott Killingsworth.
He is survived by his daughters, Shirley Dianne Harrison (Freeman), Cheryl Eugenia Brantley, Barbara Jean Williams (David), Grandchildren, Gregory Elliott Harrison, Geoffrey Barron Harrison, Garron Gabriel Harrison, Taylor Logan Brantley, all of Dublin, brothers, Benjamin Ferrell Killingsworth of Greenville, SC, Joseph Edgar "Chip" Killingsworth of Higgston, and sister Mary Elizabeth "Beth" Powell of Dublin.
Benny F. Killingsworth, Gregory Harrison, Geoffrey Harrison, Garron Harrison, Ronnie Green, Richard Upshaw, Nik Kodros, and John Stanley Killingsworth will serve as pallbearers. The members and congregation of the Dublin Mennonite Church will serve as honorary escort.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Dublin Mennonite Church.
Visitation will be held Monday from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Townsend Brothers Funeral Home
