Services for Robert Strickland, age 82 of Dublin, will be held at 2:00PM on Saturday, July 6, 2013 in the Chapel of Townsend Brothers Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Poplar Springs North Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Tim Paulk and Rev. Dennis F. Robinson will officiate. He passed away on Thursday, July 4, 2013 at his residence. Mr. Strickland was the son of the late Jim Strickland and Carrie Oneal Strickland. He is preceded in death by brothers, Billy Strickland, Russell Strickland, James Strickland, and W.L. Strickland, sisters, Nell S. Maddox, Aretha S. Baggett, a former wife, Maudie Lee Strickland, brother-in-laws, Jack Tanner, J.B. White, T.H. Maddox, and Sonny Kimbell, sister-in-laws, Nellie Strickland and Faye Strickland. He was a lifelong resident of Laurens County. He was a member of Poplar Springs North Baptist Church. Mr. Strickland was retired from Carl Vinson Medical Center after 33 years of service and also a mechanic. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Strickland of Dublin; daughter, Kathy Brack (Randy) of Irwinton; two step-daughters, Benita Edwards (Doug)of Easley, SC and Kimberly Garnto (Glen) of Chester; two step-sons, Chris Greenway (Jamie) of Anderson, SC, and William J. Greenway of Dublin; granddaughter, Magan Halcolmbe (Jason) of Dublin; grandson, Ryan Brack of Savannah; 13 step grandchildren, four great grandchildren, Noah Brack, Simon Halcombe, Jesse Halcombe, and Brandon Brack, four sisters, Martha Tanner, Becky White, Nanette Kimbell, and Joanne Luecke (Tim), brother, Moye Strickland (Linda), two brother-in-laws, Carl A. Robinson and Dennis F. Robinson (Jane), three sister-in-laws, Ivaline Kearns, Pauline Hicks, and Mabon Strickland, and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Danny Strickland, Andy Kimbell, Al Kimbell, Benjamin Strickland, Ryan Strickland, and Gerald Payne. Honorary pallbearers will be Eddie Strickland, Jimmy Thomas, Wayne Strickland, Mark Strickland, and Robbie Brinson The family will receive friends from 1:00PM until funeral hour on Saturday at Townsend Brothers Funeral Home.
